Kul Wheels has a fleet of e-bikes from The Electric Bike Company and include Model S (sturdy beach cruiser-style bikes) and Model R (hybrid rugged cruisers). Both models have large plush seats, upright handle bars and large tires for a nice smooth ride. These are Class 2 rear hub bikes with both a throttle and pedal assist.
E-Bikes are eco-friendly and considered zero-emissions vehicles, as they emit no combustion by-products.
Yes! All Kul Wheels ebikes are rain/weather tested to withstand rain. If you get caught in a heavy downpour, it is always advisable to take cover – for your electric components as well as your comfort and safety. DO NOT completely submerge your motor or battery in water as it can result in motor/battery malfunction or failure.

Every e-bike is checked over before every rental — but bikes do breakdown sometimes. Call Kul Wheels immediately (804-2053452) if your e-bike breaks down. All of Kul Wheels e-bikes are regular bicycles with electric features. If an electric portion of the e-bike (battery, throttle, pedal assist) isn’t working properly, we will try to remedy the situation.

Keep in mind that if you breaks down, there is no return transportation included for you or the e-bike. You are liable for any costs incurred to transport the bike(s) and the rider(s) back to Kul Wheels, as well as any repair costs, unless there is evident proof that Kul Wheels has been negligent. No refunds, discounts or credit on rental or tour fees will be given when a bicycle breaks down especially when it concerns flat tires.

Do not continue riding your rental if you have an accident. If it’s an emergency, dial 911. If it is not an emergency, contact Kul Wheels immediately via phone (804-205-3452) and await instructions.
Without getting too technical, depending on your ebike’s battery, mileage can range from 40 miles to 60 miles or more per charge. There are many variables that affect your range. They include obvious things like your weight, your ebike’s weight, the terrain (hills require more battery) and how much you are contributing with your pedaling. Range is also affected by the air temperature, winds, tire pressure, the type of surface you are riding on and what level of assist you are using.
We recommend fitted pants, jeans or shorts with comfortable closed-toed shoes (no flip-flops). Sunglasses and sunscreen are a good choice, too!
The laws regulating bicycling on Virginia’s public highways define the rights and duties of bicyclists as well as the motorists with whom they share the roadway. Bicyclists and motorists basically have the same rights and duties, and the laws governing traffic regulation apply equally to both. “Electric power-assisted bicycle” means a vehicle that travels on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground and is equipped with (i) pedals that allow propulsion by human power and (ii) an electric motor with an input of no more than 1,000 watts that reduces the pedal effort required of the rider. Operators must be at least 14 years old or be under the supervision of someone at least 18 years old (but Kul Wheels riders must be at least 16 years old). An electric power-assisted bicycle shall be considered a vehicle when operated on a highway.

Bummer, your plans have changed. You MUST contact the shop within 24 Hours BEFORE the scheduled day of your tour/rental to cancel and receive a full refund. If you don’t call or email within 24 hours before your tour/rental, AND receive a written confirmation of your cancellation from Kul Wheels, we will not issue a refund. All Rentals must be picked up within fifteen (15) minutes of your scheduled rental time, or we’ll assume that you aren’t coming and will release your Ebike to someone else. And sorry, but you will lose your deposit.
Dang It! The Weather is Not Playing Nicely. Our guides are always ready to ride, but if the forecast reflects a strong likelihood for thunderstorms, hurricanes, sleet, snow, high winds (20 mph or greater), other wraths of Mother Nature OR if it is below 45 degrees (F) or above 105 degrees (F) on the day of your scheduled ride, we will cancel the tour to keep you safe. We will “rain check” your reservation to another day (subject to availability) OR provide a full refund.
For your safety, the group’s safety, and the safety of our equipment, all participants MUST be able to confidently ride a bike. If a guest is not riding confidently enough to travel safely on Richmond trails and streets, Kul Wheels will prohibit that guest from riding and will not issue a refund. If a rider is intoxicated, exhibits unsafe or dangerous riding such as jumping (our fleet bikes are NOT e-mountain bikes), for their own safety and the safety of others, Kul Wheels will prohibit that guest from riding and no refund will be allowed.
